Alexa, the psychologist at Sacred Ground, is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Assertiveness Training,
Social Skills Training, and Psychodynamic Therapy. Psychological services are tailored to the client's needs and may include both individual and family sessions.
Sessions are primarily from an Interpersonal Therapy perspective which aim to support important relationships in the client's life, alleviate symptoms, and nurture positive change, healing, and development.
Sessions provide clients with a safe and comfortable environment where they are allowed to freely express themselves without fear of restriction or judgement.
Sessions are typically available once a week, however more frequent sessions can be offered if required.
Assessments & Reports
The psychologist at Sacred Ground Australia is also available for cognitive (IQ) and ADHD assessments and psychological reports for funding applications and educational support
for children and adolescents. Parents, teachers, general practitioners, and paediatricians commonly refer children for psychological assessments to investigate cognitive, learning, mood, and behavioural problems.
You do not need a specific referral to have a psychological assessment. Psychologists gather many different types of information for the assessment process.
This may involve clinical interviews, classroom and/or playground observations, consultations with other professionals, and formal psychological testing
(Psychological testing involves the administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological tests).
*Please note: Medicare rebates are not available for psychological assessments.
The psychologist at Sacred Ground Australia is registered with Medicare, Private Health Funds (HICAPS), and the NDIS.
Neither you nor your child need a GP referral to access psychological services, however, if you are wishing to claim through Medicare you will need a specific referral from your GP.
There are several different types of referrals for accessing psychological services, however, the most common is called a Mental Health Care Plan.
A Mental Health Care Plan entitles individuals to a Medicare rebate which can assist with covering part of the cost of accessing psychological services.
Please consult your GP to determine whether you fulfill criteria for this referral. If eligible, clients are able to access 10 rebated session per calendar year.
Private health insurance can also be used to cover a portion of the cost for psychological services,
although cannot be used in conjunction with Medicare. Please consult your private health insurer for your exact cover as each health fund differs.
